I have been the assistant concertmaster of the California Symphony since 2022, and have played with many other groups around the Bay Area, including New Century Chamber Orchestra, Modesto Symphony, and others.
Most memorable musical experience:
There are so many! I will never forget playing Mahler’s Eighth Symphony at the Tanglewood Music Center, my first performance at Carnegie Hall with the Carpe Diem String Quartet, or playing Haydn string quartets while in a raft floating down the Yampa River in Utah.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing:
Maybe a chef? Maybe a basketball writer? Maybe a professional Dungeons and Dragons player?
Hobbies:
I love to cook (and make cocktails), play board games, go on hikes, and travel the world in search of the best food I can find
Favorite vacation spot:
Wherever is the best local restaurant!
What three things can always be found in your refrigerator:
My homemade chili oil, fresh fruit, and many, many bottles of sparkling water.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be:
If it’s t-shirt weather, it’s sunscreen weather
Do you have a “bucket list” piece of orchestral music that you have yet to play:
Being in orchestra, or playing any music, is always about the people for me, more than the repertoire. To sound way too cheesy, when I am making music with wonderful friends and colleagues (like I get to do here!), every piece is on my bucket list!
