Our Opening Night Masquerade Fantastique night begins with a red-carpet welcome and an exclusive VIP pre-concert reception with distinguished guests from San Jose's government, business, and media communities. The historic California Theatre will provide the perfect backdrop as you enjoy fine wine, delicious food, and live entertainment.
Next, immerse yourself in the music of Masquerade, our season opening performance. Enjoy refreshments in the Baton Society Lounge during intermission alongside Symphony San Jose leadership and donors. After the performance, continue the celebration at our courtyard dessert reception, where you can mingle with special guests including conductor Nathan Aspinall, soloist Jon Nakamatsu, and Symphony San Jose musicians.

What do I get for the cost of the event?
Think of your ticket as a donation with perks. Your support makes it possible for Symphony San Jose to present a full season of world-class concerts and community programs. In return, we celebrate your generosity by adding some extra sparkle to an already fantastic opening night.
Is it a formal plated dinner?
No, the pre-concert reception will feature a generous selection of chef-curated food with more than enough to enjoy. There will be some seating for those who require it, as well as reserved tables for our group sponsors. Wine is included, and you will also find delicious bites in the Baton Society Lounge and at the post-concert reception.
Will attendees be able to watch Music Notes?
Yes, event guests will have the option to bring their drinks into the hall and watch our pre-concert talk with Jon Nakamatsu from the upper level.
How is Masquerade Fantastique different from the Baton Society Lounge?
The pre-concert reception takes place in the upper concession level of the lobby with food & wine, a string quartet, and themed activities. After the concert, the courtyard reception will feature more new menu items and the opportunity to mingle with Jon Nakamatsu, Nathan Aspinall, and Symphony San Jose musicians.
If I'm a Baton Society member but don't sign up for this event, can I still access the lounge?
Yes—you will still have access before the concert and during intermission.
Does a sponsorship include Masquerade concert tickets?
Individual event tickets do not include tickets to the concert, Masquerade, but our $5,000 and $10,000 sponsorships do include concert tickets.
Can I switch my Sunday concert tickets to Saturday for the event?
Absolutely! Call the box office at 408 286 2600 and ask for Jacquie.
What's the dress code?
Festive attire, with masks warmly encouraged. Think cocktail or semi-formal elegance, but with a personal twist—something that makes you feel confident, special, and ready to celebrate.
