History of the Center for the Performing Arts

Designed and Built With Artists in Mind

San Jose’s Center for the Performing Arts was built in 1972 and designed by the Franklin Lloyd Wright Foundation. San Jose’s one-of-a-kind building is surrounded by large windows that fill the lobby of natural light, while the auditorium offers continental-style seating.

The Center for the Performing Arts is home to Symphony San Jose and Broadway San Jose productions. The venue also regularly hosts prominent touring productions across the country.
